Music
First-Trinity Presbyterian Church of Laurel has a long-standing tradition of presenting the finest in music in worship and in its concert series. The church’s 1968 Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ of four manuals and 75 ranks has played a large role in the church’s musical history. This landmark instrument, designed and finished by Roy Perry, and installed by J.C. and Nora Williams, is noted for its versatility and beauty of tone. Organists who have appeared in concert at First-Trinity include E. Power Biggs, Charles Callahan, Claire Coci, Marcel Dupre, Virgil Fox, Gerre Hancock, Marilyn Mason, Thomas Murray, and Frederick Swann. On a world scale, First-Trinity’s Aeolian-Skinner organ must be considered a "hidden gem,” one that all Mississippians can be proud to claim as one of the assets of the state. |
